Cedar River Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Centre

Serving Northwest BC since 1997

About Cedar River Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre

Cedar River Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre (CRPRC) has provided physiotherapy, rehabilitation and consulting services to Terrace and the surrounding communities for 20 years. Our skilled professionals offer you a variety of treatment methods to help you recover from injury, pain or illness as well as restore and maintain optimal mobility and health.

Founded in 1997, by Mallory Glustien and Lori Janzen, CRPRC is committed to evidence based best practice to provide you with the most up-to-date treatment options. Our therapists are committed to professional development and support research through our sponsorship of the Physiotherapy Foundation of Canada.

Our Physiotherapists work collaboratively with family physicians, surgeons, radiologists and various specialists to optimize and enhance the healthcare of our patients. Our mandate in managing your health is referring to other health care providers as necessary, in your best interest.

Our therapists are clinical educators and mentors of Physiotherapy and Medical students through our association with UNBC’s Northern Cohort, and the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine and School of Physical Therapy.

NEW "NORMAL" REQUIREMENTS

Vaccinations are happening...

All of us at CRPRC hope you have been keeping well, remaining in good spirits and following the advice of Dr. Bonny Henry and the BC Centre for Disease Control.

It has been a challenging time for many, but we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing our community with quality physiotherapy care.

JULY 2021
As more people are vaccinated (thank-you!) and our freedom to travel and see family and friends evolves there will be changing recommendations regarding provincial COVID protocols/mandates. There are currently no changes to our current clinic practice of handwashing and masking for in person appointments. Please stay tuned as "opening up" continues to evolve.

Thank-you for your continued vigilance for the health and safety of all people in out community.

Dear friends of CRPRC,

Cedar River Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre has put many specific protocols and guidelines continue to provide safe in-person treatments. Based on  recommendations from our federal and provincial governments, as well as those of our professional regulatory bodies we will continue to require people to wear medical masks for the duration of each appointment.

The above webpage contains specific information regarding social gatherings and events, restaurants and bars, athletic activities, mask requirements, travel advisory and enforcement. Please take the time to read and understand these restrictions and how they are relevant to your current activities as well as those activities of people within your "bubble".

The following advisory regarding masks is taken directly from the above web-page.

EPA order on masks in public indoor settingsMasks are required for everyone in many public indoor settings, as outlined in the EPA mask mandate order. A face shield is not a substitute for a mask as it has an opening below the mouth.
There are exemptions for:
  • People with health conditions or with physical, cognitive or mental impairments who cannot wear one
  • People who cannot remove a mask on their own
  • Children under the age of 12
  • People who need to remove their masks to communicate due to another person's hearing impairment
Masks are required in many indoor public settings and all retail stores. This includes:
  • Malls, shopping centres
  • Grocery stores
  • Airports
  • Coffee shops
  • On public transportation, in a taxi or ride-sharing vehicle
  • Places of worship
  • Libraries
  • Common areas of post-secondary institutions, office buildings, court houses (except court rooms), hospitals and hotels
  • Clothing stores
  • Liquor stores
  • Drug stores
  • Community centres
  • Recreation centres
  • City Halls
  • Restaurants, pubs and bars when not seated at a table
  • Indoor exercise/fitness facilities
  • Indoor sport facilities

Please note, if you feel any of the following symptoms, prior to your appointment, please contact us immediately:
  • new or worsening cough
  • sore throat
  • shortness of breath
  • difficulty breathing
  • new loss or decrease in sense of taste or smell
  • headache
  • chills
  • unexplained fatigue
  • difficulty swallowing
  • nasal congestion, runny nose
  • sneezing (not allergy related)
  • hoarse voice
  • nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain

If you have been travelling within Canada please check the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) regarding potential COVID-19 Public Exposures (see below). You can review possible domestic flight exposures and if you are within the potential exposure range, please get tested and wait for 2 weeks prior to attending an in-person appointment. If you have travelled outside of Canada or come to Canada from another country please self-isolate for the recommended 14 days prior to attending in-person physiotherapy.

Here is what you can expect from us in the clinic:
Screening
You will be required to fill out a screening questionnaire online prior to your appointment time.
If you do not complete this form online before your appointment, your therapist will have to go through it with you in person (which takes time away from your appointment, so it is best to do online if you can).
If you are unable to complete it online, please call in advance, and you can review it with a receptionist.
If you are experiencing any symptoms at all, it is very important for everyone’s safety that you reschedule your appointment immediately. We can also perform telehealth assessments and follow-up appointment.
All staff are required to do the same screening before they arrive at work.

Scheduling
Our physiotherapists are currently working a reduced schedule to limit the number of individuals passing through the clinic.
We have also modified our schedules to reduce waiting times and patient overlap, and to allow for enhanced cleaning measures between appointments. Your first appointment for a new assessment (new person assessment or new injury assessment) will be done via telephone phone consultation. You will be booked for a 15 minute phone call and then booked for a 30 minute in-person assessment.

Clinic Space
Specific COVID-19 signage has been placed around the clinic - please respect our new policies and procedures.
Physical distancing measures have been implemented, and plexiglass has been installed at the front desk.
We have thoroughly cleaned and de-cluttered the clinic in order to minimize contact surfaces.
All surfaces have been cleaned and sanitized.
All rooms will be cleaned and sanitized after each patient interaction.
All equipment will be cleaned and sanitized after each use.

Practitioners
All physiotherapists will be wearing masks. Based on recent public health guidelines regarding masks we will be wearing three layer medical masks.
Physiotherapists will not be wearing gloves, unless for specific treatments such as acupuncture or intramuscular stimulation/dry needling.
All physiotherapists will respect 2 metres (6 feet) physical distancing measures unless deemed necessary for assessment and/or treatment.

Here is what we are requesting of you:

Punctuality
Please arrive to your scheduled appointment ON TIME (not early, not late).
This is critical to avoid unnecessary congestion in our waiting area, and to avoid patient overflow or overlap.

Respect Signage/Procedures
Please adhere to all posted signs and policies.
This includes hand sanitization and hand washing upon arrival and at departure.

Appropriate Clothing/Footwear
Please remove outdoor footwear/outerwear; you may bring specific indoor footwear to use.
NO BARE FEET PLEASE.
Please also come prepared by wearing appropriate clothing so the body part/region of interest may be exposed - physios need to see the area of focus in order to adequately assess/treat it (i.e. a tank top for shoulder injuries, shorts for knees/hips, etc.)

PPE
All patients are required to wear a MEDICAL mask upon entry into the clinic, and for the entire duration of their appointment.
Masks will be available for purchase at the front desk (for $2.00) if you need one. If you purchase a mask, and wish to use it only during your physiotherapy appointments, you could bring a zip-loc bag to save the mask and use it again at your next appointment.
Please do not arrive wearing gloves; gloves are not necessary within the clinic.

Payment
We will be processing payments “touchless” as much as we can.
Credit cards can be linked to your online account for easy, automatic transactions.
E-transfers will be another option.
For now we will not be accepting cash (except for the purchase of a mask...you can use exact change).

Other things to note:
We strongly suggest that you bring minimal “stuff” with you into the clinic, and avoid touching anything after you wash your hands when arriving.
Avoid checking your phone if you can (you will need to re-wash or sanitize your hands otherwise).
Please leave everything you can at home or in your vehicle to avoid any inconvenience.
We do encourage you to bring your own water bottle if you will be exercising, or have water available in your vehicle for after your appointment (drinking glasses will no longer be provided at this time).

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
We will be continuing to offer Telehealth/Tele-rehabilitation services.
In many cases, Telehealth will still be an appropriate option for physiotherapy appointments.

Telehealth is also strongly recommended for any patients that are considered high risk; including the elderly, or anyone with high blood pressure, heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, cancer or compromised immune systems from a medical condition or treatment, such as chemotherapy.

If you’re unsure if Telehealth or an in-clinic appointment is most appropriate for you, please call or email us.
Or if you simply prefer this modality, please let us know!

Thank you for your attention to these details and your ongoing patience.
REFERRALS ACCEPTED BUT NOT REQUIRED

Our goal is to keep you moving. Call if you need help!
