NEW "NORMAL" REQUIREMENTS |
WE ARE OPEN...and here is what's newAll of us at CRPRC hope you have been keeping well, remaining in good spirits and following the advice of Dr. Bonny Henry and the BC Centre for Disease Control.
It has been a challenging time for many, but we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing our community with quality physiotherapy care. NOVEMBER 2020 There have been recent changes to provincial COVID protocols/mandates. Please continue reading below for important information about our requirements for attending in-person appointments. The most important recent consideration is centered on travel outside of our home communities. We are working with our Professional College as well as local community health experts to put policies in place to prevent local transmission. Thank-you for your continued vigilance for the health and safety of all people in out community. |
Dear friends of CRPRC,
Cedar River Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre reopened in May as part of the Phase 2 of the British Columbia reopening plan. Many specific protocols and guidelines have been put in place in order for us to safely provide in-person treatments. Based on recommendations from our federal and provincial governments, as well as those of our professional regulatory bodies we have made the necessary changes to provide you with the best possible care, in compliance with these new standards for public health and safety. Now that we are into the next wave of infections, we are working daily to ensure your, and our, safety.

Please take the time to read and understand these restrictions and how they are relevant to your current activities as well as those activities of people within your "bubble".
The following advisories are taken directly from the above web-page.
Travel advisoryAt this time, all non-essential travel should be avoided. This includes travel into and out of B.C. and between regions of the province. For example:
What is essential travel?Individual circumstances may affect whether a particular trip is considered essential or non-essential. Essential travel within B.C. includes:
If you need to travel for essential reasons, take the same health and safety precautions you do at home.
Coming from outside of B.C.At this time, people travelling to B.C. from another province or territory within Canada should only come for essential reasons. If you do travel, you are expected to follow the same travel guidelines as everyone else in B.C.
Please note, if you feel any of the following symptoms, prior to your appointment, please contact us immediately:
If you have been travelling within Canada please check the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) regarding potential COVID-19 Public Exposures (see below). Here is what you can expect from us in the clinic:
Screening
You will be required to fill out a screening questionnaire online prior to your appointment time.
If you do not complete this form online before your appointment, your therapist will have to go through it with you in person (which takes time away from your appointment, so it is best to do online if you can).
If you are unable to complete it online, please call in advance, and you can review it with a receptionist.
If you are experiencing any symptoms at all, it is very important for everyone’s safety that you reschedule your appointment immediately. We can also perform telehealth assessments and follow-up appointment.
All staff are required to do the same screening before they arrive at work.
Scheduling
Our physiotherapists are currently working a reduced schedule to limit the number of individuals passing through the clinic.
We have also modified our schedules to reduce waiting times and patient overlap, and to allow for enhanced cleaning measures between appointments. Your first appointment for a new assessment (new person assessment or new injury assessment) will be done via telephone phone consultation. You will be booked for a 15 minute phone call and then booked for a 30 minute in-person assessment.
Clinic Space
Specific COVID-19 signage has been placed around the clinic - please respect our new policies and procedures.
Physical distancing measures have been implemented, and plexiglass has been installed at the front desk.
We have thoroughly cleaned and de-cluttered the clinic in order to minimize contact surfaces.
All surfaces have been cleaned and sanitized.
All rooms will be cleaned and sanitized after each patient interaction.
All equipment will be cleaned and sanitized after each use.
Practitioners
All physiotherapists will be wearing masks. Based on recent public health guidelines regarding masks we will be wearing three layer medical masks.
Physiotherapists will not be wearing gloves, unless for specific treatments such as acupuncture or intramuscular stimulation/dry needling.
All physiotherapists will respect 2 metres (6 feet) physical distancing measures unless deemed necessary for assessment and/or treatment.
All physiotherapists will be wearing clinic-designated attire, that will not be worn to/from their individual households.
Here is what we are requesting of you:
Punctuality
Please arrive to your scheduled appointment ON TIME (not early, not late).
This is critical to avoid unnecessary congestion in our waiting area, and to avoid patient overflow or overlap.
Respect Signage/Procedures
Please adhere to all posted signs and policies.
This includes hand sanitization and hand washing upon arrival and at departure.
Appropriate Clothing/Footwear
Please remove outdoor footwear/outerwear; you may bring specific indoor footwear to use.
NO BARE FEET PLEASE.
Please also come prepared by wearing appropriate clothing so the body part/region of interest may be exposed - physios need to see the area of focus in order to adequately assess/treat it (i.e. a tank top for shoulder injuries, shorts for knees/hips, etc.)
PPE
All patients are required to wear a MEDICAL mask upon entry into the clinic, and for the entire duration of their appointment.
Masks will be available for purchase at the front desk (for $2.00) if you need one. If you purchase a mask, and wish to use it only during your physiotherapy appointments, you could bring a zip-loc bag to save the mask and use it again at your next appointment.
Please do not arrive wearing gloves; gloves are not necessary within the clinic.
Payment
We will be processing payments “touchless” as much as we can.
Credit cards can be linked to your online account for easy, automatic transactions.
E-transfers will be another option.
For now we will not be accepting cash (except for the purchase of a mask...you can use exact change).
Other things to note:
We strongly suggest that you bring minimal “stuff” with you into the clinic, and avoid touching anything after you wash your hands when arriving.
Avoid checking your phone if you can (you will need to re-wash or sanitize your hands otherwise).
Please leave everything you can at home or in your vehicle to avoid any inconvenience.
We do encourage you to bring your own water bottle if you will be exercising, or have water available in your vehicle for after your appointment (drinking glasses will no longer be provided at this time).
IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
We will be continuing to offer Telehealth/Tele-rehabilitation services.
In many cases, Telehealth will still be an appropriate option for physiotherapy appointments.
Telehealth is also strongly recommended for any patients that are considered high risk; including the elderly, or anyone with high blood pressure, heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, cancer or compromised immune systems from a medical condition or treatment, such as chemotherapy.
If you’re unsure if Telehealth or an in-clinic appointment is most appropriate for you, please call or email us.
Or if you simply prefer this modality, please let us know!
Thank you for your attention to these details and your patience with our "new normal" (for now)!
